Personal Data Collected by This Site and the Reasons for Collection
Comments
When visitors leave comments on this site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, as well as the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help detect spam.
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available at https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is also visible to the public in the context of your comment.
Media
When uploading images to the site, you should not upload images containing location information (EXIF GPS). Visitors to the site can download images from the site and extract the location data.
Cookie
When leaving a comment on the site, you can opt in to saving your name, email address, and website in cookies. This is for your convenience and saves you from having to re-enter your details when leaving another comment. These cookies last for one year.
If you have an account and log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
Additionally, when you log in, we set several cookies to save your login information and screen display preferences. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for one year. If you select “Remember Me,” your login will persist for two weeks. Logging out of your account will clear the login cookies.
If you edit or publish a post, additional cookies will be stored in your browser. These cookies do not contain personal data and simply indicate the ID of the post you edited. They expire after one day.
Embedded content from other sites
Posts on this site may contain embedded content (such as videos, images, and posts). Embedded content from other sites behaves exactly as if the visitor had visited that site directly.
These sites may collect your data, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with the embedded content. If you are logged in to your account on that site, they may also track your interaction with the embedded content.
Data retention period
When you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
If a user registers on this site, we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile page. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Site administrators can also see and edit that information.
Your Rights Regarding Your Data
If you have an account on this site or have left a comment on the site, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you (including any data you have provided). You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
Where Your Data Goes
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
